For most people, toilet is no longer a mere water closet. It has become a place to relax and chill after a hard day’s work. Creative designers and user are taking cues from upscale spas and hotels and trying their best to convert regular loo into an oasis at home.
Redesigning nowadays is more than adding a Jacuzzi and posh ceramic bathroom products. It’s more about a consistent looks, and adding touches of luxury wherever possible. Marble, granite and other stones are regular occurrences in modern bathrooms and you can even find sculptured glass sinks adding elegance to the room.
Mirror: Use a large mirror. Mirror provides an illusion about expanded area, and whatever is the area of your bathroom, a large mirror will make it look even bigger. We usually take a first glance of ourselves in the toilet mirror everyday – so a mirror is an important part of our life.
Space: Space should be one of your primary concerns. Although space is not always readily available – you must make sure that your bathroom do not look or feel congested.
Lighting: When deciding for lighting, you have to keep the space in mind too. It must be bright enough to permit you to shave or apply makeup with ease. However, it also must be soft and pleasant to the eye. Avoid exposed bulbs, and consider two light sources on each side of your mirror. Use frosted or coated glass bulbs.
Fixtures: The fixtures must scream style and trend through their looks and feels. Aluminum and stainless steel appliances are in. Bathrooms looking for an antique look prefer brass. Make sure your style is consistent – your knobs, pulls, taps, etc should be similar in style. Do not mismatch.
Steam Showers: Consider a steam shower if you have a good budget and want the experience of a luxury spa or steam bath. Steam shower is about the same size as a regular shower and takes no extra space (as it has the regular shower features included).
Tub: A tub is usually the biggest piece of furniture you would have – make sure your tub matches the environment and is comfortable.
Wise decisions about tubs, shower enclosures, lighting and designer fixtures can make a major difference between an ordinary bathroom and an extraordinary rest room.
